spending time hooked up to an IV and monitors....

so last night i went in @ 8 to see the midwife on duty at the birthing center b/c i was feeling some mild contractions and they were kind of worrying me. i had quite a few of 3 different types on the way to the center and once i got there.

i was there till almost midnight! she kept me hooked up to a monitor where we could hear Jaxon's heartbeat and we could also measure the "activity" of my uterus. his heartbeat was sounding awesome.

turns out i was dehydrated. crazy--cause i swear i drink a LOT of H2O. she hooked me up to an IV to get some fluids in to see if that made any difference. the first part of the IV had sugar in it which really got Jaxon moving! then, the second bag was just fluid. it seems like it took quite a while, but it calmed it all down.

she said i need to make sure i'm getting electrolytes as well--and i have to take a magnesium supplement (on top of my iron supplement i already have to take 'cause i'm anemic right now). the dehydration was making my uterus "irritated". so, now i'm on modified bed rest. YUCK

she also decided to do an exam right there at the end to make sure my cervix wasn't open and getting ready to deliver Jaxon, and it wasn't. i have to go back for a follow up on monday on top of my regular appt i had scheduled for next friday.

so, basically, i'll be starting school by sitting down-- A LOT! thank goodness i don't teach kindergarten, right?

i'm kinda bummed, but i'm glad that's all it was.

so what does all this mean?
NO exercise, or even stretching till august 26th with no more than 4 hrs of LIGHT activity per day. that means i can't practice anymore with my bellydance girls. also means i can't go to yoga. i can't even go up to my classroom till next week to do ANYTHING. and when i DO go up there, i pretty much can't do much of anything and will need help finishing up what i have to get done. i don't have anything heavy to move, it's really just organizing things.

so if anyone out there has some free time on the weekend or next week during the day, and you wanna come organize books and papers and such, lemme know. i'll need the help!

week 32 checkup

so my midwife said my lil Jaxon is already in position. she said it was earlier than a lot of other babies, but it was a good thing. she also mentioned he was really low. guess that explains all those weird little sensations i have low down in the pelvic region!
we talked extensively about iron and protein intake (last time my blood was checked i was anemic--runs in the family). she wants me to eat 6 meals a day with protein at each. that just sounds like a lot of food. granted it doesn't have to be a huge meal. i definitely eat 5 meals with protein at each. just gotta add in that 6th! oh, and i have to keep taking my iron supplement along with making sure i eat foods rich in iron, calcium and vitamin c. good thing i try to do that!
i can just barely see the light at the end of the tunnel....

week 31 finds us at the beach!

[week 31]
little Jaxon's a mover and a shaker--DEFinitely. he loves to move around when there's music playing. he also seems to enjoy the time from about 10-12 or so... guess he's a night owl like his daddy, perhaps.
went to a drum circle/dance jam on saturday night in corpus this past weekend...i danced a bit and Jaxon danced a lot! it's pretty interesting, but usually when I'M moving, he's not--like he's checking it all out. so at my bellydance practices he's usually pretty chill.
we enjoyed our little foray to the beach this past weekend. the water was awesome, Jaxon was failry chill while i was IN the water, but once i was out and reaidng a book in the shade, he as making his presence known.
can't wait to see what he's like when we meet him!

the playlist...

we've put together a little playlist for our boy. it's so funny... not classical or completely instrumental either. we go from The Beatles to Pearl Jam to Cymande to Incubus...there's lots of Allman Brothers on there... and of course The Beastie Boys.
i can't tell which he likes best, but it's been fun adding new music to it and playing it for him. he moves around a lot when The Beatles and Lennon have been on.
cracks me up...

[week 27]

Jaxon's in there!

oh, my aching rib!

3rd trimester starts today!

my lil dude, Jaxon, hangs out on the right side of his nice little home. it's pretty cool... i can really feel hum right now--i'm not always sure what i'm touching--his butt? his head? but either way, it's pretty cool.
but, since that's where he hangs out, the area around my lower right ribs is sooooo achey! it's like i need to add about another inch of space below the rib just for him. and to think...i have 3 more months to go! it feels like something is constantly pushing into the ribs and the solar plexus area. i can only imagine it will get worse.
i suppose i should be thankful this is pretty much the "worst" problem i've had since being pregnant-- no "morning" sickness, thank God!

the countdown's on....

Jaxon likes it when...

6 months along, 3 more to go.
Jaxon is a mover--I definitely think he is working on his Jedi training. Very cute, if I do say so myself. He seems to really respond when his daddy talks to him with his hand on my belly. Jaxon will kick his hand.
I also think Jaxon likes it when I sing. Now I'm the first to say I don't have the best singing voice, but when I'm singing along with something--especially if it has a sustained note and is in a major key, he moves extra. Maybe it gives him the right energy to focus on his training?
